ABOUT CANADA 150/150
The vision and goal of Festival of India Ottawa (FIO) is to promote inter-cultural connectivity among various cultural groups in Canada, particularly in the National Capital Region. As part of Canada 150 celebrations, FIO is pleased to initiate a project called “Canada 150/150”. This project is to encourage a minimum of 150 families or individuals to invite for at least a day (or morning till evening) an individual or a family belonging to another culture. Such an invited individual or family, by living through the day will have an opportunity to share and learn about food, music, culture and heritage of the host. This kind of cultural encounter and experience will promote a greater understanding, appreciation, acceptance, and respect between host and guest. Imagine every family in Canada interacting with people of other cultures! This project need not be just for Ottawa. Every city and community in Canada can celebrate. FIO believes that this is the way to build a Canada that is truly multicultural based on understanding and respect for all cultures. This is the way Canada truly becomes a Nation for all Nations.
The Canada 150/150 project was launched by Chandra Arya, Member of Parliament for Nepean, on January 26th, 2017.
